Use a cookie cutter to make interesting shaped sandwiches. Self-feeding can begin at 6mos, as soon as baby can pick up bits of mashed potato or banana, well-cooked thin carrot slices or baby peas. Have regular family meals. Children need routines. Knowing dinner is served at approximately the same time every night and that the entire family will be sitting down together is comforting, which also enhances appetite, and provides a perfect opportunity for your children to share what’s on their minds. Good nutrition means eating a well-balanced and varied diet of foods in as close to their natural state as possible. Instead of using a fork and knife to cut up toddler food try using a pair of scissors. Toddlers, who are being introduced to table food & utensils, will make a mess; prepare for it & consider what you use as a floor covering.
